Show Info -
One Life To Live, set in fictional Llanview, PA., debuted on the ABC Television Network July 15, 1968.
The show has been lauded for its groundbreaking exploration of social issues, award-winning performances and innovative storylines, including the history-making week of live shows in May 2002. One Life To Live is also responsible for many “firsts” in Daytime television: stories of split personalities, overcoming illiteracy, and teenage bullying. The show received mass critical acclaim for its 1992 homophobia storyline, and culminated with the emotional display of the Names Project AIDS Memorial Quilt.
One Life also has a long history of booking top musical performers, including: Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, Timbaland and Keri Hilson and The Pussycat Dolls. The artists are integrated into the storylines and all the vocals are performed live.
The cornerstones of One Life are the three main families: the wealthy Lords, the powerful Buchanans and the strong-willed Cramers.
One Life To Live has been honored with four Emmy Awards in one season twice in its history: the first time in 1994 − which included one for Best Writing − and the second time in 2000. The show won its first Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Drama Series in 2002.
The show also produced another “first,” Prom Night: The Musical. The four-day musical event featured the high drama of a high school prom with a score of original songs assembled by executive producer Frank Valentini and music director Paul Glass.
